Finnegan's Market - Saturday in Hudson Quebec

Spend even a short time on the main street of Hudson, Quebec on a weekend and you're sure to have someone pull up in a car and ask you for directions to Finnegan's. Since the mid 80's Finnegan's Country Market has drawn a steady stream of weekend visitors. If its Saturday (between May and October) point them west and wish them a good day. If its Sunday, again point them west, but, just as they start to thank you, tell them to take their time. They've got six days to get there. Finnegan's is only open Saturday.

Finnegan's started out when the Aird family wrapped a flea market around the antique business they ran out of the barn on their farm - but over the decades has morphed into much more. Today you'll find hand crafted goods (who knew birdhouses came in so many varieties), flowers, organic foods (including, of all things, artisinal dog biscuits) paintings and collectibles of every kind.

Even though it opens at 9 in the morning, vendors - some of whom come from 100's of miles away - line up as early as 2 AM for a spot. Some show up every weekend. Others, only occasionally. Understandably, the better the weather, the more competition there is for the few non-reserved stalls.
